The only thing I can say bad about them is that they don't even come close (I'm not talking $20 or so) to what I pay for Mercury Insurance. I was pretty disappointed, thinking I'd be able to lop off a good chunk of change from what I currently pay.

The insurance companies have certainly made money off of me over the years. It's such a rip off.

I had a policy with them 6-7 years ago. They gave me a great rate at first, but after several increases over the following year (no incidents), I was paying about the same as my previous insurance company. I now have my insurance with Hartford. I also wonder how they can spend so much on advertising.

I believe most insurance companies offer the defensive driving discount. Everyone with a clean record should check. You can take the course online for less than $50 a person.

Of course, the bottom line is how well your insurance company treats you when you have an accident (and afterwards, e.g. rate increases).

Isn't it difficult it is to compare policies from company to company without an attorney to read all the fine print?

Try Amica, they are known for having extremely good rates and excellent service.

I won't argue with the service part but their rates, at least in Georgia, are very high. I was with them for 20 years and recently left, cutting my auto insurance in half. And they wanted to double it when I added two teens to my policy, neither being primary drivers. My new insurance company will only cost about an additional $500 when I add them. Plus, they raised the rebuild price on my home to justify an increase in my homeowners policy, a complaint I've read about on other message boards.

Hi,
I am newly join in this site. This site is very useful to others.Finding auto insurance quotes online is easy, but finding the cheapest auto insurance rates can be more of a challenge. To get the lowest quotes, follow these tips to help you find ways to trim possibly hundreds off your auto insurance quotes. Give them details - If you don’t provide information about your zip code, marital status, car’s safety features, and annual commuting miles, by default insurance companies will quote you a higher auto insurance rate. Provide as much detail as possible to make sure you get each discount that you qualify for.

I switched to Geico a couple of months ago. My premium for a way better coverage is now half of what I used to pay (saves me $ 500/6 months!).

However, when I asked them for a quote in CA (I'm moving there next month), they said my rate will go up 3 times!

Anyways, GEICO is alright, but I think your cheapest rates will come from smaller, independent agents. Try 4autoinsurancequote (google them).. they seem to always give me good rates.
