even sweeter when its change that your roommate has left in the kitchen and you've kicked it a million times. think they'd do that if it were a crisp $100 bill?

The local branch of my credit union has one installed - members get to use it with no surcharge. Very nice.

If you're a customer, they should take rolled coins. They may make you jump through some hoops, though. My old bank used to make me write my name and account number on every roll and sign an affidavit that I'd counted them. It's a royal PITA to wrap the coins and then write on every roll.

Damn, that's old school! I remember doing that (wrapping and writing) for my family's business over 30 years ago.

I did that all the time as a kid. I would collect change and turn it in for cash. Of course I would use my mom's account number and she would do the transaction, but the process was the same.

Nowadays I just put all my coins into a big sock that I use to beat vagrants whenever the opportunity arises. To date it has not.

TD bank (used to be Commerce) does free counting - no fees at all.
