Both my entire agency and specifically, my job classification is short-staffed. Plus, legally, they can't fire us without cause...and if we never give 'em one, we're safe. Granted, the assignment I'm in right now is boring and mind-numbing, but it will get me through the next three years until retirement and a guaranteed pension. I still hope for a thinning of the ranks of crappy "local" TV reporters, though. I'm sure they could have rolled tape from the last recession and the one before that, and the one before that for that story.
