Hey JoeM, there is a workaround to the awful graphics rendering. There's a relatively inexpensive program by an Australian firm called CADPublisher that creates ai files from AutoCAD files. It's pretty inexpensive and works nicely.

Yes. In fact, it runs fine in a VMware Fusion virtual machine on a Mac mini!

Good to know, thanks. But Illustrator CS 3 can open the .dwg file so I'm good.
