Use the CUPS driver for a different Photosmart printer. There are a bunch of them. One of them will almost certainly work.

Doc, hope you're still on the thread. I opened the /Library/Printers/hp/cups folders because of a detailed error report that showed that the system could not load a file out of that nest. the Photosmart.drivers part is a package of some kind. It has the needed files inside, but it looks like cups can't open the package to get at them. The package file seems to be HP proprietary and Pacifist can't open it and neither can anything else. Can you look in your /Library/Printers/hp/cups/ folder and see if Photosmart.drivers is another folder or is a package?

Thx

Nononononono. It's not that hard.

Reset the printing system, install the Gutenprint driver collection, add a new printer and select one of the CUPS drivers for a similar printer.

(And Photosmart.driver is a package. But don't bother with it.)
