Actually, depends where you are. Coldest showers ever, Mount Desert Island, Maine. Most comfy, solar on Daytona Beach. We usually try to find sites that have showers and actual bathrooms. Have also had to go without in the New York Finger Lakes area. I was much younger then.

if you are conserving water, why not golden showers?

"Use some kind of Bio Soap so you won't leave a ring in the lake."

Yes, and much better to scoop out water with a bucket and rinse off on shore.

Yeah, I know. Since we got our VW Westy, we don't even use a tent anymore.

If you're gonna call it camping, you might as well rough it. No potties (learn how to squat in the woods) & no showers.

only in the last 30 years after massive advertising have people worried
about smelling bad on a camping trip. Archery hunters now n have to have scent block clothing instead of checking witch way the wind is
blowing.

 Don't we both know that!

I've started taking a small travel pack of unscented baby wipes. Flexible for stuffing in the pack, lightweight, and for those places with trees, not as much of a bear attractant as smelling all purty. Take along a little quart size ziploc bag to stash the used ones.

No trash left behind, no water contamination, and clean feet and other body parts.

Ditto MStudio.

Frigid mountain streams usually harbor fewer microscopic beasties than warmer ones further south. Got a nasty case of ringworm some 15 years ago from just wading into a stream in western Pa and washing. If water's suspect, solar shower w/ extra portaged water or wipes. But for just a few days - yer w/ friends, right?
