Re: Going to NY/NJ - should I take my iPass (toll transponder)? - trisho. - 10-23-2009 Just a heads up about the Triborough Bridge: they renamed it RFK Bridge earlier this year. More details down below, to avoid being confused and lost when you arrive at it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_F._Kennedy_Bridge http://www.nycroads.com/crossings/triborough/ Hope that helps! Re: Going to NY/NJ - should I take my iPass (toll transponder)? - Cary - 10-23-2009 Use the EZ Pass/iPass - it can save you a lot (no, a LOT!) of time at tolls. If I were going to Orangeburg, I would go: JFK > Van Wyck Expwy > Grand Central Pkwy > Triboro/RFK Bridge > FDR Drive (north) > GW Bridge > Palisades Pkwy exit 6 (Orangeburg) or, depending on traffic, JFK > Van Wyck Expwy > Whitestone Expwy > Whitestone Bridge > Cross Bronx Expwy > Bronx River Pkwy > Cross Westchester Pkwy (west) > Tappan Zee Bridge > Palisades Pkwy (south) > exit 6 (Orangeburg) Cary Re: Going to NY/NJ - should I take my iPass (toll transponder)? - the_poochies - 10-23-2009 Your rental car may already have an EZ Pass transponder on the windshield. I would call and check. I few from EWR-ORD last weekend and brought my EZ Pass with me. When we arrived at the rental car, it already had an iPass transponder on the windshield. It made driving on the Chicago Skyway and Indiana Toll Road much easier. |
