Did my own research via google. Wow! That is a needlessly complicated process. This is the second Dell that I've seen recently that has taken the Mac mini design approach to upgrades. The Dell Vostro A860 has a particularly nasty hard drive upgrade process.

How about speed-wise?

I have a Runcore SSD in my DM9, don't the 10v's use a regular drive?

The 10v's come with either a regular drive or an SSD.

the reason why the ram is difficult to upgrade is to satisfy microsoft. they could put a door on the bottom of the machine but then everyone would be upgrading the ram on their mini - not sure why MS doesn't like it but they don't.

Its a hell of a lot easier than upgrading a hard drive on an ibook.

MS doesn't want people to have enough RAM to make their own OS work? Seems silly. What stinks is that even the Ubuntu 10v is of course afflicted by the same issue.
