PMP is really popular with a lot of companies.

There's a high percentage of marketing by the educational institution that comes included with any value in these certifications. It's a tremendous revenue stream for schools.

I guess I construed the above sentence that you thought of certifications as an offering only of technological merit.

Two separate reasons. Technology can change faster than degrees are useful AND some companies require certifications for employment (be it technical or not.)

I think you mean "zero certificates." I suppose there's a chance you have zero qualifications, but I'd be curious how you manage to stay employed Wink

A few years ago, I would have said that certifications do not matter at all in the computer industry, except in very low-level jobs. It's experience and know-how that sell. Good managers know how to hire good people.

Nowadays, I recommend the certifications.

Certifications are global, and standardized, and widely available to those who are qualified and/or willing to put in the work.

Degrees are local, and non-standard, and available to only a few, regardless of the school or program chosen.

Each certainly has its place. The certification market certainly doesn't have the maturity that hundreds of years of college degree evolution has. Or the inertia.
