This one bugs the heck out of me. Why isn't this reminder prompt optional? I'm pretty sure it once was, way back when.

If you want to protect newbies or flakes, fine! But please let me turn this little safety item off! :villagers:

I like that warning.

If you don't, just hold down the option key.

Heh! Why would you need to be warned? Are you cats drunk computing, or what?

Hey, alls I'm saying is, it's ok to leave it there for the folks that want it, but just give me the option to turn it off. Holding down the option key just seems kind of kludgy to me.

Why do I need to be warned? Because Restart is right below Sleep in the menu. Sometimes I'll swipe and click my mouse a little too quickly, and I accidentally hit Restart instead of Sleep. And if it didn't warn me, I'd be pissed off. I select Restart (on purpose) maybe once every six months, but I select sleep at least once a day, if not more often.

The bundled apps need some love; Address Book in particular seems to have been neglected for some time and is stagnant. The only app Apple steadily improves is Preview. For some odd reason, the printed monthly calendars from iCal use impossibly small fonts that can't be changed.

iTunes could use a complete rewrite. The little cottage that was SoundJam has had addition after addition and become somewhat of a mansion. It works, but not as well as a house designed to be that large from the start.

With the proliferation of online IDs, passwords and other sensitive data, Keychain could be taken to the next level, play a larger role, and become easier to use. I believe central management is one improvement that would be marketable and play well to the masses, but it would have be hacker-resistant and trustworthy.

Being allowed to merge the two iTunes accounts into one account. I can't imagine why this is such a problem.

I am not a SL user yet, so I don't know if this has been fixed/improved in the snowy cat, but... how about finally adding smart copy options in the Finder??? That was possible in OS9, but seemingly not in X. And there are a bunch of other Finder bugs that need to be fixed too.

I think it's interesting that so many comments refer to bundled apps rather than OS X itself.

A few things that come to mind to me:

- TRIM support

- Fix the bug that causes photoshop to often crash for many users. Apple has admitted it's on their end. It was introduced with 10.5. I'd prefer it be fixed with 10.6.3

- Better folder support in the dock

- USB3 support

- Something with networking needs to be fixed. I've had an issues, as well as others here, where after a machine has been up for a few days it can't show AFP shares in the Finder.

- Better control of the left side bar (column view) in the Finder.

As far as other apps go...

- I echo the comment about iChat supporting other protocols

- iCal needs to go back to allowing editing of events by double-clicking (not double-clicking and then clicking edit.)

- QuickTime X needs a Pro version

- iTunes needs better sharing options. Home Sharing is an improvement but, for example, I should be able to edit playlists on a shared library.

PeterB -- I thought we had all the ones I had gotten used to over the years. I've also seen some add-ons that might bring the functionality to bear; what kind of smart copy options do you mean?

I want..
Time Machine to actually be able to go back in time to when I was a younger man and give me stock advice. Not love advice- I married a great lady.

The OS to automatically find any and all Windows machines on my sub-network and offer to install OSX on them.

I do NOT want the Windows "Clippy" or "Bob"

I'd like to be able to access my iTunes library at home from my PC at work. I know it can be done, but I would like it to be done in a non-techie, "it just works" way that Apple is famous for.
