blackpowder pistols/rifles can be shipped and purchased without a license most places. There is a loophole for black powder weapons.
When is the last time someone robbed a bank with an 1858 New Army .44 caliber pistol?

I wonder about the fit and finish of a $60 replica.
A polished nickel finish would definitely show of any manufacturing blemishes. I've seen some "replicas" that couldn't come near my old Mattel Shootin' Shell Fanner 50 or Subnose 38. Those were really well done.
What made the original firearm a "fast draw" weapon? The short barrel?
I prefer the longer barreled variants like:
I'm not a *big* fan of engraving, but sometimes...

There's also a version of a SA Colt that has a more modern ramp front sight, ala some of the Ruger Single-Sixes.

That's what happens when you lose over 10" of barrel - that powder still has to burn somewhere, so it makes a pretty big flame out the front of the thing.

A friend had a T/C in 30-30 (.30WCF) and it looked interesting to shoot.
Huge fireball, LOTS of noise, and it would actually twist his hand from the torque.
He: "It's FUN! Wanna try?"
Me: "No, I'm good." It looked like way too much fun.
I've always had soft spot for a 1984 Winchester or Marlin version, though.

I think Marlin would be my pick - just can't get used to the idea of the whole top opening up on the Winchesters when you cycle the action.

My 15" T/C Encore chambered .308 Winchester is a hoot to shoot. Its a 1" bull barrel I had made by Bullberry Barrel Works.
