Re: Do You Do The Double Honk When Driving Away After Visiting Friends? - hal - 05-27-2010 funny how the double beep is some kind of universal standard (at least in the us) never thought about it, never discussed it yes, I do it sometimes AND I walk across people's lawns too can't imagine why it would be more annoying than a large group standing around outside yakking away saying their goodbyes... Re: Do You Do The Double Honk When Driving Away After Visiting Friends? - mikebw - 05-27-2010 I have a neighbor who watches some kids during the day, and in the evening someone else comes to pick them back up (I assume the actual parent). When they arrive in the car they pull right up front and honk immediately. They don't get out, they don't wait, they just pull up and honk. Sooner or later the kids will come out, but if it takes too long they will honk again. This is very loud and annoying since I like to keep my windows open for as much of the season as is possible. I would like to see them get out the car and actually greet their kids at the door one of these days instead of honking, waiting, and then yelling at the kids as soon as the get in the car. Re: Do You Do The Double Honk When Driving Away After Visiting Friends? - John B. - 05-27-2010 All of this pales in comparison to the vehicle enthusiasts who mounted train horns on their loud-piped pickup trucks, or rebroadcast their car stereo over an ice-cream-truck-quality external speaker so that the whole neighborhood knows they're coming from blocks away, but you can't tell what "song" it is...just noise.
