That was my impression, but I'll have to say I wasn't correct. I went through nearly every Dakota post here (it was actually interesting, believe it or not), and my interpretation is that he posted for his first two years almost exclusively on the tips and deals side. For about a year, he posted a lot to both sides, and his posts here are unremarkable (seriously, look for yourself). The first person to call him out was Davester, of course. There's somewhat of a ramp up at the end of 2008, I believe, but Swampy is still getting most of the attention. At that point, there are still several conservatives (Karsen, macamatic, big guynrusty) taking (and giving) some of the flak. Most of these back off, then when Swampy backs off, the heat really turns on Dakota. Seriously, feel free to look, and I think you'll see the same thing. Of course, interpretation is up for debate, but my feeling is that the forum would just about die without someone like Fly, Swampy, or Dakota. At the very least, based on participation with these "unreasonable" people, one could conclude people like to interact with them. More than they like interacting with the more reasonable conservatives.

Other than your first sentence, what does any of this have to do with your claim that "Before Dakota came, this side of the forum was absolutely DYING."? You claim to advocate respectful dialogue, but apparently your concept of a "lively" forum is a forum filled with disrespect, judging by the detailed analysis you provide.

I think your response, other than the first sentence, is simply more blather springing from the huge chip you have on your shoulder.

Btw, a "spoiled little brat tirade"? I think that might be pushing it a bit, but hey, whatever.

But if you want to make stuff up, that's your prerogative.

Both these statements appear in the same short paragraph. You claim to be some sort of mental health professional and also a college graduate, how do you interpret the inherent contradiction in this thought process?

I don't care if everyone on this board tells me to kiss their ass. Unlike the whining babies on the right, I don't expect to dish it out and not have anyone dish it back.

I do care when someone is writing a pathetic little piece about how he is picked on for no reason and includes a blatant right-wing term which is famous for being used for the purpose of being insulting to Democrats. THERE'S the reason folks "pick on you" in a nutshell.

Until you come up with a concrete backup for even one of your statements I'm calling bullshit on everything you've written so far. The only thing that there is "no tolerance" for here is unsubstantiated BS.

Succinct and entirely accurate.

You're right. Let's get it back on track. Today the news seems to be all about how "angry" Pakistan is about the raid. When I get time I plan to see if I can find some sources representing the opinion of Arab-Americans on the past weeks' events.

All right, fine. Show me where $tevie said she wanted to be considered the classy queen of the forum and you will win a prize. Your time starts now.

I think it's pretty obvious what you meant was that she didn't tell anyone to "kiss her ass".
You are crazy as a bedbug.
NYC has it's annual Take a Bedbug to Lunch day next month, maybe if kj can make the trip we could see the beginning of peace negotiations.

OK, my turn. When I singed up here I had no idea there was a political side to it( a bad idea, I might add), hence the couple of years the kj mentioned. It didn't take me long to realize which way this side was leaning. At that time, swampy was their favorite whipping boy. Th mojo is to gang up on people then start exchanging recipes with each other or post pictures of tables when losing the argument. This is the intellectual high watermark of the intelligentsia here. Over time, I have got to know my fellow mac users here so let me share with you what I have learned about them over the years. In no particular order,

Black(formerly BlackLandlord)- pretty nice fellow. We get along fine and on rare, very rare, occasions he even sides with me. I am sure he too used to watch Creature Features on WGN.

davester- a pompous British ex-pat who fled the socialist Britain of the 70s for the capitalist, imperialist America. He never misses the opportunity to bad mouth everything America stands for while fantasizing about the land he left behind. He doesn't come here that often but when he does it is for the sole purpose of admonishing others not to feed the "troll", i.e. me. Of course, he never misses the opportunity to jump in every thread I start.

Grace62- a relatively new here. She sounds like a sweet little lady. She usually has read and linked to 10 articles by 8am. She used to be sweet and innocent and very concerned about violence, until last Sunday when she suddenly discovered the Bush Doctrine and went hog wild.

$tevie- she wants to be considered the forum queen, very articulate and smart. Unfortunately, she can be easily goaded into using profanities like we are seeing here. She used to act as Forum's Grammar Czar for a while. She doesn't like it a bit that I can devalue her by a factor of hundred using a few keystrokes. She is the portrait of a liberal democrat. She criticized the tea party brochures for Washington visitors as racists but later offered her own advice which districts in Baltimore to avoid. I assure you she did not mean the Irish neighborhoods.

John Dough, August West, Carnos Jax, Rick-o - So far as I can tell they have nothing else to do other than wait for me to post something then jump in with some wisecrack. JD, affectionately called doughboy, has been following me around asking why I don't answer his questions. He goes so far as PMing me in the mornings. These guys often ask me to leave the country and go back where I came from, proving once more that they have no use for immigrants who do not tow liberal politics.

cbelt3- Wise and experienced. He knows his stuff, complete with publication numbers. He is the favorite conservative for his measured and thoughtful positions, unlike me of course. He used to come to my defense but my proclamations have been too much for him as of late. To establish himself as the thoughtful conservative, he makes sure to end his posts with a jab at Palin, Trump or whoever the current favorite Republican whipping boy may be. Try as he might, one little slip up and all the Palin-bashing credits goes out of the window and he is savagely attacked.

Ted King- I know who is posting when I see wall to wall text. If you have the time and patience to read his posts treatise, you may learn something. He too claims to be "open-minded" but he has yet to find ONE thing Republican that he likes.

billb- the other resident conservative. We don't get engaged much. He does his thing, I do mine, may be because half the time I don't know what he is talking about. I hope he sticks around.

RgrF- He doesn't like me a bit, and worse, he has put me on "ignore" Sad Problem is I get more replies from people who put me on ignore than anybody else.

Pam- she comes and goes but certainly fits the mold of Grace and ¢tevie.

Trouble- a reliable conservative but she(I think) doesn't come here very often anymore.

swampy- is closets to me ideologically and took the brunt of attacks early on. Of course, the compassionate liberals betrayed their vicious inner selves by tearing into her and demanding that she should give up benefits the government has forced her pay into all her life.

rjmacs- the most reasoned self-identified liberal on this side of the forum. He is someone who openly speaks when he is conflicted. Others turn on a dime and claim they never changed. He is new though. I give him a few more months.

Last but not list, kj- Frankly, I forgot about you. Come back more often.
