MBTE was also being found in too many lakes at too high a concentration from (inboard)outboard motor spills and leaks.

Biodiesel certainly seems the way to go for Autos and trucks. I don't see why big agriculture wouldn't be behind biodiesel, seems like you wouldn't have to worry about what your crops looked like if they were simply being turned into oil.
I have a surfing friend that has had a biodiesel conversion done to his 4x4 truck that he uses for surf trips to Mexico & South America. He never has any trouble finding fuel, if he can't get any diesel he just pulls in to the local market and buys a few gallons of cooking oil to get him down the road!

That sort of looks like the water injection systems of years ago. I tried one in a VW once.

RacerX, HotRodders still scour the wrecking yards for GOOD blocks, very hard to find one where the main caps aren't ripped out, and the block is scrap. Great gas engines, crap diesel engines.
About 40%.

Used to have a Buick Park Avenue that ran like the wind. In Cally 25 mpg was attainable but when I got away from Diane Feinstein in Oregon used to sneak up on 30 mpg and this was a big powerful V-6. Ethanol is BS.

My parents have a '94 Caprice Classic, looks like boat, drives
like one too but the darn thing gets 29mpg on the interstate
time and time again with a V8. Someone is screwing us over
with the mileage in these new vehicles if an boat like that
can get that kind of mileage. I know others that have them and they
can get it too.

Grateful, just curious, how did that work for you?
I'd still also be curious what people think of the link I gave-- I'm not an automotive person by any way shape or means, so I don't know much about these things.
