Just like 'HDMI1', 'HDMI2', and 'Component' inputs there would be an 'Apple TV' selection and that would bring up the integrated Apple TV. Re: So how long before the new Apple TV is built into a TV? - Seacrest - 10-07-2010 I think Apple would have to kill Steve Jobs [shudder] before they license their `anything` to `anybody.` They would sell "low margin" TVs because they want iTunes rental revenue. Of course, being Apple, they would not really sell the low-end stuff. They would love to be the pre-eminent first-run movie rental company, a field that is soon to be wide-open upon the death or serious decline of physical media stores. But I really think the discussion is now moot because the new AppleTV is so damn small and cheap. Re: So how long before the new Apple TV is built into a TV? - deckeda - 10-07-2010 So, two Netflix widgets in the TV? Or a pared-down ATV inside that has its own way of accessing local computers and the Internet, with the "rest" of the TV accessing it all a different way? Not saying it can't be done but there are philosophical differences here that preclude something as easy as slapping the box inside the TV. Re: So how long before the new Apple TV is built into a TV? - silvarios - 10-08-2010 I'd rather replace a $100 box every couple years than my TV. If you could "AirPlay" games and other apps to the TV…now that would be compelling. Streaming music, video, photos along with games, web, and other Internet apps, essentially your iPod/iPhone/iPad streaming all content to the big screen for a unified experience. Imagine, Windows, Mac OS, and iOS devices, and the Internet can all stream to a single $99 box.
