Nah. The video of the Speaker was from the 6th.
Did she say something different on the 6th than she said in that speech in July that I linked to?
I was just pointing out my source. Smile

[quote=Acer]I'm all for encouraging people to take care of themselves, but it's hard to complain about food stamps without sounding like a selfish bastard.

If your comment was directed at me, I'm not complaining about food stamps. I'm just pointing out Pelosi's warped view of the the quickest way to create jobs.

What is "warped" about that particular comment? Bring some facts to support your view that putting money to buy necessities into the hands of the poorest people doesn't go directly into the local community and support jobs. What other action puts cash into the economy more quickly than this? (And we're talking about immediacy in this particular comment, not long term solutions, which the Speaker has addressed separately on many occasions.)
What is warped is that you are ignoring the quote. The quote is not about about "...putting money to buy necessities into the hands of the poorest people..." The quote is not about putting money into the economy. The quote is ""If you want to create jobs, the quickest way..."

Surely, you don't think the quickest way to create jobs is to massively fund food stamps and extend unemployment past 2 years?

Again, the quote is about the quickest way to create job.
Putting money into the economy is EXACTLY what create jobs.
As I said before, no one thinks that is a long term solution to the recession. It is a band aid for those most in need, and it has the ADDED benefit that this money is spent quickly in the local economy and IT HELPS THAT LOCAL ECONOMY.
Steady growth in GDP is required for long term economic recovery, and we are slowly getting back on that path.
Macroeconomists can give you estimates of how much growth in GDP it takes to create one job (usually something like $140K will create one job, but I've seen higher numbers too.)
Please name one way to create jobs more quickly than putting cash into the hands of those who spend it the quickest in their local economy. Again the emphasis of this quote is SPEED.

Well, I still can't find anything that gives more than very short snippets of what she said in that news conference and none of them had her saying anything about advice from conservative economists - which was the only thing that is anything like new compared to what she has said numerous times before. So if she didn't in fact say that, then I'm perplexed about the purpose of the OP.

Stop snarking about the quote and start listing ways that are quicker. Name even one.

You've nailed on the head, Stevie. Touble doesn't have a source because Limbaugh is his source and he can't post that here. Limbaugh has never gotten a quote right.

I have a cold that is why I have to keep editing. My head is all stuffy. I keep misspelling words.

She did say it. I transcribed it. Let me see if it is still on my Tivo.

What a laugh! What are you going to do...post your Tivo video here? Unless you can do that nobody is going to believe this is anything more than regurgitation of dipshit Limbaugh's BS. Your point is irrelevant anyway since Pelosi's original statement on this topic still stands and is fundamentally correct. As $tevie noted, your panties are all twisted up because your republican masters have conditioned their followers to go apoplectic at the thought of people in need getting food stamps or unemployment benefits.
