Oops, sorry Grace62, I guess I headed off on a real tangent from your excellent observation about knowledge guys vs. money people in management. A manager that used to be a good engineer driven to a significant extent by a desire to understand how things work is way more likely to do well for a company over the long haul than a guy who is focused on making as much money as possible.

What is so tough about asking corporations to be accountable partners with labor and government in making the places where they do business better for everyone? Is that so hard? I don't think it is, we (and I mean the big collective we as in all citizens) simply have not demanded it.
