murder isn't manslaughter, so it's done with no regard for human life. it's not an accident.
1st degree is premeditated, 2nd is while committing a felony, and 3rd is not premeditated.
murder, especially face to face with a handheld weapon, is a hate crime, no matter if the other human is a member of your societal subset or not.
you have to hate or dehumanize a person to take their life.
