i saw some Romney supporters saying Biden was rude, too.
they didn't think Romney was rude to Obama, though.

I disagree, billb. Say what you wish about Biden, Ryan was a not ready for prime time player. I was surprised by that. Ryan memorized talking points well, but he could not handle the back and forth. His scripted"funny" sound bite repartee came off stilted and contrived( contrived also being applicable many other instances of those lines from other pols). Prior, my opinion of his policies was not great, but I expected a much stronger performance than he delivered.

Biden was goofy, rude and a bully I could not stand Ryan's "stories" and goofy smirk.
The debate was boring.

As solace, I felt the moderator did a decent job. I really hate it when either candidate has enough time to skip a short thoughtful answer and devolve into rote campaign stump speeches. She seemed to cut them off and control the flow of debate to a better degree than I've seen before. Of course, I don't watch a lot of these events.
