I'm (almost) buying a VW - Maddog - 05-15-2014 I recently bought my own VW after much research and selection. I am very picky. My thoughts are that the VW line has problems with mechanical reliability and I would avoid them, except: the diesel versions are much better. It seems that they have developed an extremely nice engine and drive train to go with it and nobody else is close. I love my Jetta wagon and routinely get about 40mpg with regular use. I get over 500 miles out of a tank of gas and it is fun to drive. I bought a used model (2011) and it was not that cheap, but that is because they are holding their value very well and for good reason I think. Re: Stop Me. I am very eager for the diesel Mazda6 and CX-5 to make their way to America. Re: Stop Me. I'm (almost) buying a VW - Speedy - 05-15-2014 I'll dump my two Diesels when they make a Diesel hybrid.
