It might be beneficial if she could get close to the source and negitiate a good enough price or exclusivity for a period that might make it harder for others to push her out of the market before she has a chance to make some money. Might also be a good idea to identify other suitable itms to sell so she can move along if others start to compete with her.

I'd be tempted to start by selling on Amazon - they can even handle fulfillment. Don't invest in more than you can lose. See it as a fun experiment.
