Great advice here.

A few years ago I saw a termite swarm in the middle of my yard. Not sure what they were feeding on - this was about 30 feet from my house and 15 feet to the nearest tree. I bought a bottle of termite killer, and soaked the swarm. That seemed to kill them all, but to be safe I dug up about three inches of soil and sprayed the rest of the bottle of termite killer.

I'm wondering if I should add a few bait stakes around my yard, and check them for termites periodically.

You could move your house to our area. We don't have termites - yet.
