I argue with the wife about this all the time. In the fraction of a second that it takes you to decide NOT to use turn signals you could have flicked that lever. In doing so you:
1. Avoid potential LEO pinching you for not using a turn signal.
2. Avoid being deemed an assshole to others who don't know your intentions even though YOU think they are obvious.
3. It costs you nothing, NOTHING!...to use your signals. Just effing use your signals and teach your children good manners. Period.
PS - I got an $85 ticket once because I was in the middle of nowhere (Raymond, NH) and I didn't come to a complete stop. The cop hiding in the dark saw me.

As I've gotten more mature (okay, older) I find myself using blinkers from habit. For me it's like wearing a helmet on my bike & motorcycle or breathing air. You just do it and don't even think about it.

Except when in Miami. Cars sold for use in Miami do not come with turn signals.
Miami cars also will not operate unless there is a cell phone clamped between your shoulder and ear.

wondering why everyone keeps citing specific examples of times you should use your blinker -- like its some sort of revelation.
Sorry, but I'm never using my blinker while in a left or right hand turn lane. If you can't figure out where I'm going next then u shouldn't be driving.
And if I change lanes without signaling and the the car that was 1/2 mile behind me speeds up to a 100 miles an hour catch me and then waves a sign that says "I'm gonna kill u for not using your blinker" then I'll finally know what Stevie looks like...:RollingEyesSmiley5:
