Your post doesn't make any sense. The thread with the sticky is a thread. However, that is not the For Sale and Free Items forum, which is reached by clicking the forum button at the top of the page, above the sticky thread. You seem confused still.

I wanted to let a bigger audience in on this.
What prompted it was an E-Mail I received on Sunday asking if I had any laptops available at this time. It was from a person who I'd previously sent an item.
As I type this, there are 8 15" MacBook Pros, 1 13" Macbook Pro , 1 12" MacBook Air & 3 PC laptops sitting on the floor next to my desk, ready to go to new homes. Laptops are one of our biggest 'sellers'
I also have over a dozen 21.5" & 27" iMacs waiting to go out, along with (get this!) 46 Mac Pros. Those I was very rarely willing to ship (too expensive) though I did send a few to a church down South.
I could have demanded payment up front, but this project is done in our spare time, so we try to fulfill requests as quickly as possible (less paperwork) ... when most people are simply picking up their items, it doesn't include any money changing hands. The system of shipping immediately was for OUR convenience.
The other odd thing that occurred with the folks here was that, a few times, I was invited to send an extra item or two, if I felt I had too many.

Not in my case. I am the Mac guru for my "other" mom, whom I recently "upgraded" from her old 2006 iMac to her son's 2009 Mac mini. I dropped an SSD and some RAM in it for her, but that was pretty much all I could do to speed it up.
Going from that 2009 iMac mini (Core2Duo!) to a 2012 i7 Mac mini would be a HUGE leap forward in performance for her. Given that she is retired and living on a fixed income, free is exactly the right price for her.

A mere drop in the bucket; since June 1997 (when we started keeping records, we have re-homed 4,112 computers of various pedigrees.
It started out as a service to disabled veterans and just blossomed. We have given computers to various non-profits, libraries, fire depts., senior centers, schools (private & public), etc., etc., etc,.
About 55-60% of our giveaways have gone directly to kids to take home. Our aim was to make sure that very kid had a chance to own their own computer. We tried to make sure we gave away a computer a day.
We've never received any public funding (though we've tried) so it was self-funding, and generous donations from local civic groups that keep us going.
We also were lucky that quite a few local businesses helped us out too; one local trucking company would send a truck with two men to pick up as many as 300 computers at a time.
We are currently on our 4th donated storage and work space ... we are very fortunate to receive that also.

My goodness...you have undertaken quite a service! Thank you so much for what you have done for so many! This only makes it even harder to fathom that a few here have taken advantage of your generosity. We get them in various ways, from businesses and institutions.
90% of them need work, from simply installing operating systems to complete re-furbing and / or installing hardware. One of our frequent jobs in to transplant laptop screens from parts machines.
As I type this I have two MacBook pros getting OS-es installed. I have insomnia and do a lot of them when I can't sleep.
Last year, after we had received a shipment I made an appointment at our 'local' (150 miles away) Apple Store for 56 MacBook Pros which were covered under one of their repair programs. I was the hit of the day when I showed up with them! They assigned two geniuses to me and we did them production line style. Later I received a nice letter from Tim Cook.
