....the issue is that lines for tellers continue to be long because some people can't/don't want to use the ATM for basic stuff so they use the teller and some people will take the time to waste teller on basic stuff like [ can I get account balance or withdrawals which can be done at ATM ]....mostly older individuals.....

......and some banks have 'extended hours' now but even then, it doesn't always align with a person's time [ not all banks have Sat. hours ]......

......if I can, I do but sometimes you just have to....

.....once had the bank lose check deposited in ATM.....despite the fact that I had ATM receipt, they 'charged back the deposit'.......the deposit literally 'disappeared' and they said they could do nothing about it [ again, I had ATM receipt ]......

....luckily, it was small amount....from that day on I tried to deposit in person in a bank.....but at some point, you have to make deposits in ATM......

I get a check on occasion from a friend, my bank is pushing Mobile Deposits where u take a pic of the check by smartphone via the App. I guess it is better than your ATM situation but I just can't get with it.

I'll hold the check for a few days to a week until I can PHYSICALLY get into the branch and hand the check to a real person for deposit.

I know everything is electronic now days and the paper check is void once it hits the system but still.

been using mobile deposit for years at this point. never had an issue with it. use it for at least four different institutions. the convenience has been awesome.

Depends on the bank, and how well they staff their branches. Also many people don't have the luxury of being able to go and deposit something during "banker hours".

Locally, BoA just closed their branch office within the last year or so, it has a For Sale sign in front. Closest actual branch these days is 25-30 miles away, about a 45 minute drive. I used to bank at that branch years ago before moving my accounts to a CU.

Our bank's new scanning ATMs were fussy about what checks they'd accept to the point that I was forced to go into the lobby or learn use the app.

Hi everyone,

There are banks that offer accounts that are online/ATM/mobile only. Some banks, which have local branches, offer those types of accounts and actually charge fees for going to a teller.

I was seriously considering switching to a bank that offered check depositing in their app, while mine did not do it yet. They stepped up their game though and now I use it all the time!

B/A immediately images all checks deposited at the ATM, and will print the image on the deposit receipt if requested. The deposit image can also be accessed online through the account.

Man, I couldn't WAIT for my bank to adopt this.

My only complaint now is that there is a LIMIT on the amount of the check.
