No need to pack anything or stop for anything! We split one order of nuggets, partly because $20 for dinner at KFC seemed crazy, and partly because we don’t need a dinner of nothing but deep fried stuff. Re: First trip to McDonald's in quite a while. - ztirffritz - 02-25-2022 I think it’s been about 10 years since I’ve been in a McDonald’s. Maybe 4 since I last ate the ”food”. . Re: First trip to McDonald's in quite a while. - decay - 02-25-2022 Last McD's stop was a quick snack while out on the road. Opted for the triple burger for $3 and a large unsweetened ice tea for $1.50. Under $5 and it held me over until I got home for a real home-cooked supper. Re: First trip to McDonald's in quite a while. - RgrF - 02-25-2022 No Mickey Ds here, wife has a penchant for Burger King but she no longer has access to the car key, so we eat a lot of salad and I'm still 30 lbs over (after shedding 35 or so) Re: First trip to McDonald's in quite a while. - raz - 02-25-2022 we were desperate last summer and hit a Mickey D for the first time in a decade or mre. We are now in the 'rather-fast' group. Never again. Re: First trip to McDonald's in quite a while. - Zoidberg - 02-25-2022 RgrF wrote: Major congrats on the shedding. Don't overlook that. When on road trips, we usually hit McD's (I don't like to spelunk new places while on the road -- once we're at the destination; yes, definitely. But on the road, I like to keep it familiar.) Their regular hamburger is a comfort food, I guess, but it's also a good & simple quick bite. I don't eat much while driving. BK, I like, but wife doesn't at all. And my old friend's son labeled BK best when, when driving past it once, said "Burger King always smells better than it tastes". Popeye's I loved when I lived in New Orleans. The Popeye's you get these days around the country is *nothing* like the original, which was a fantastic place to eat. I remember back in college; my roommate would treat on a Sunday for a box if I drove to get it. By the second piece your head was almost soaked from sweating b'c of the spices. And those original onion rings -- what we called seafood restaurant onion rings -- actual cut-up onions, battered and fried; not that food-service bullshit they sell these days (think BK's rings). And the strips weren't pre-made strips; had a few friends that worked at Popeye's, when you ordered strips (and I can't remember what they were called then), they'd cut up the chicken to batter it and fry it. You might wait a while but they were so much better (and fresher). I am now very hungry, but I think only a time machine will satisfy the craving. Re: First trip to McDonald's in quite a while. - Speedy - 02-25-2022 That’s one reason we eat out so little - we fast 18-20 hours a day. Same for me. It’s the other four to six hours of eating that are slowly killing me. I use mouthwash between my meals so I don’t snack as much, That's a good plan; I used to brush my teeth whenever I felt like snacking, and that would kill the urge. Re: First trip to McDonald's in quite a while. - NewtonMP2100 - 02-25-2022 ....the $1 for drink [ no matter what size ] comes in handy during the warmer months [ usually get a diet drink ]..... ....certain McDonalds used to be magnets for seniors.....they would come in and stay all day, ordering a few items now and then.....and then just sit there all day....I think they banned 'loitering' so may no longer exist.... |
