And it would also educate the countless number of people who have no clue what the President of the United States can and cannot (and should not) do. I can imagine a few specifics on this: (1) Demonstration of the President's power to declassify documents. (2) Demonstration of the limits of the President's power to direct independent agencies. For (1) I envision Biden saying something that induces the Man Who Cannot Keep His Mouth Shut to reveal classified information of some kind that is not problematic to reveal at this point. Aliens, Kennedy, etc. Now you've got the former President disclosing classified information LIVE ON THE AIR disclosing classified information. For (2) Biden could then direct the Secretary of Defense to "protect the nation's secrets and assassinate the leaker" and be refused for giving an unlawful order. Then Biden could pardon himself. Then he could direct the AG to arrest the leaker. It will be interesting if you put these two on stage and they legitimize normal government operations, how the GQP crowd might be tilted towards RFK Jr... while an unsettling wildcard I do believe that he will ultimately spoil the election for P01135809; couple that with the solid 10-20% of registered Republicans who have voted for Haley in the (heavily rigged in favor of the former President) primaries, I am encouraged. Now we need to focus on the critical down ballot races in the House and the Senate. For one, they want the debate to occur at a TV studio, with no audience present other than a single moderator, and with microphones that automatically turn off when a speaker’s time elapses. Boy, I'd love that. Re: Biden & Trump agree to debate on June 27 and Sept 10 - Acer - 05-16-2024 Hoopin' and hollerin' from the studio audience was fun at first when it started happening, but it's now just tiresome. It's not Oprah. Re: Biden & Trump agree to debate on June 27 and Sept 10 - PeterB - 05-16-2024 mrbigstuff wrote: But the offer from Biden’s campaign came with certain stipulations. They need to give the ability to mute when a person interrupts or speaks out of turn. Or at the very least, deduct the interruption time from any they have remaining. I'm not so sure. They may want to give the person who isn't speaking the opportunity to respond. And even if they do mute the mike, I don't think that'll stop Dump... he'll just shout loudly enough to be heard. His MO always seems to be to talk over the other person, or as in Hillary's case, hover/glower over them. ![]() ... in all seriousness, this is the guy people want to vote for? ::o Re: Biden & Trump agree to debate on June 27 and Sept 10 - Speedy - 05-16-2024 Rather than cut the mic have them each wear a shock collar which would prevent Trump shouting in order to be heard over Biden’s mic. A side benefit would be that this would also increase viewership. |
