I thought the wisecrack was more generally aimed at ICE Barbie's general style to this point. Her $4K bag and $600 purse are more just her strutting her newfound "nouveau riche" status, so yes, it is a bit ironic, and yes, it's a sign of an extremely shallow, status-obsessed individual.
