My wife and I renewed our passports in March of this year. Her's came back in three weeks. Mine took a little longer; about 4.5 weeks. With summer travel coming up, I assume they'll need the full 4-6 weeks that they state online.
One tip: if you are taking new pictures, either at home or commercially, if you wear glasses, then take them off for the photo. My wife's photo was rejected for that reason and we had to resubmit. Makes no sense. If you don't have your glasses on in your passport photo, you look different than with the glasses.
