Regarding food additives, the whole GRAS system is a joke, with very little true science behind it. Supplements are even worse - you can put a new low-dose "natural" product in a nutrition bar, have it on a market for 6 months (no one needs to buy it), and then sell that product's higher dose as a supplement, because it did not harm anyone in food.
But to add the thing that I like - plastic straws. Yes, not great for environment, but probably not to the same degree as plethora of other things.
