Schwinn Sting Ray bikes are back, FYI. Saw a pair at Wal-mart the other day. I stopped, stood, went 'duuude' to myself, and just smiled. and smiled.

I did NOT embarrass myself by sitting on one and trying to pop a wheelie while going 'brraaaaaarrrrmmm' really loudly.

Small front tire, slick on the back, banana seat, big honkin handle bars. It was awesomely cool, man.

I miss my Banana bike... He flew like the wind ! Met an untimely end behind the family Ford Country Squire station wagon. I cried and cried. Then dad bought me a ten speed, and I stopped crying.

Awesome three-wheeler!

I was a kid when plastic rides were popular. They still are, in fact. All you could get in metal was wagons, and Tonka trucks. Now all of that stuff is plastic too!

That bike that Grateful11 posted looks like a blast to ride! Makes me want to be a little kid again...

My kids had those cheap plastic big wheels, which they rode around at breakneck speed on a deck that surrounded our house and that included some jumps with one or two-step level shifts in the decking. Took a year to wear them out, and then we got new ones. By the time the third set wore out, they were ready for banana bikes, then on to mopeds. Never has stuff like that when I was a kid. Now, those two kids don't have any kids of their own, and are missing a lot of christmas fun. Thanks Harbourmaster, for stimulating a trip down the old lane.

[quote Racer X]I had an Orange Krate. Racked little jim and the twins on the shifter a number of times goind end-over when the front brakes locked up in panic stops.
Hey, I remember those! Always wanted the 'crate. Mine wasn't too fancy, but I liked it. No shifter or front brake, but I still managed to injure myself from time to time.

Just like this pic, except mine was green. Huffy made them and it was called a Cheater Slick. Circa 1965.
