Thanks Paul,

Brings back memories, you must have taken highway 2 across Montana. We thought it was suppose to be a pretty drive --- long drive with mostly wheat and hay fields and trains. Too bad you missed the Beartooth Pass drive out of Cody. I was wondering if you took in the firearms museum in Cody.

Ah, I commend you on driving the Going to The Sun Highway. You are certainly correct about your rectum crabbing ahold of the seat on some of those turns. Toss in a little fog and rain and it will wipe the smile right off your face.

Great pictures!

Paul - sounds like a great adventure. Actually brought back memories for me. I used to work in Cody. Ran a summer theatre there (the Sarsaparilla Saloon). Riley brings up a good point. There's a "back door" from Cody to the Northeast entrance to Yellowstone, which takes you over Beartooth Pass (11,000 feet). About 15 miles north of Cody, you go over Dead Indian Pass and down into the Sunlight Basin. I swear to God, you crest the pass and drive down into the past - stunning and pristine. By the way, Charles Karault always said the drive over Beartooth was the most beautiful road in America, and he should know. But, now you have a good reason to go back and enjoy all over again. Thanks for the tour.

I'm late to the party, but the pics are awesome! I've been to Yellowstone several times, but that trip to Glacier is one I've been wanting to make for years. I'm so jealous. Smile Someday. Maybe.

Voodoopenguin;

Poor choice of words, perhaps...
I'm out of shape, but not THAT out of shape! :-) It was a nice climb down some rocks... an easy climb, but a climb.

Speedy;

Yeah, those -20 January days are why my father left Velva for the Navy...

Riley;

Yup... Highway 2.
I was very tempted to go through Beartooth Pass, but really wanted to get to Cody that day, and wasn't sure how much it woudl slow me down ending up in Belfry and having to drive south to Cody...
NEXT trip! :-)

I did drive through Belfry on my way north to get to Big Timber..
Beautiful little town with a sense of humor. Their high school football team is called the Bats. The Belfry Bats...
