I haven't seen one recently but then again, I haven't really looked.
Back in the 80's my old boss had a 25 mile commute both directions to work from his small town. His kids had
similar commutes to school and jobs. I think he cornered the market on Geos at that time.
IIRC he had three or four in the fleet. He was very mechanical and so were his sons so they kept the fleet rolling
and would buy old ones and rehab them or use for parts. I wouldn't be surprised if he still had a few.

True. Seacrest, even then I'm not sure why I noticed what they were driving, given who was driving.

the heavy safety features that are mandated, and emissions controls are what made the cheap 50 mpg cars go away. The Geo Metro XFi and the Honda CIVIC CRX-HFi.

Man, Geo/Chevy Metros are big time.
I have an autotrader.com alert setup for 3-cylinder cars in my area. Aside from (NOW) the smart car, Metros would be the only hit.
My wife gave me the green light to buy one with low miles on it last year for $6000+ !
I passed. Not sure I should have. Oh well.

I had a '94 Prizm - really sweet car. It was still going strong when I sold it with 165,000 miles on the odometer. Only reason I bought it was because mechanically it was a Corolla.
