Ditto! I know very few women who do not color their hair in some way, if not completely, and the older they are the more gray they are trying to hide (including my wife). My mom is one of the few who I know that doesn't, but that was a recent thing, like within the last 5 years. She let it go and it's all white (she's turning 80 yo this month) and she loves it... not having to keep fighting nature. Once I got over my initial shock I liked it too.
Women in this country seem to be getting more and more obsessed with camouflaging their "natural" look. And the whole phenomenon of being hairless from the nose down is getting ridiculous. Most teens and 20-somethings now think that almost all hair on their body should be eradicated regularly, if not permanently... our culture has taught them that hairless is now "natural", and yeah, I think a lot of that originated from the porn industry.
You also might be shocked at the number of men who have their hair professionally colored (no, I'm not one of them). Older men are expected to have some gray hair, so I'm always suspicious when I see an older (over 40) guy without a spec of gray.

I'm 38 and I just started coloring my hair. I was getting quite a bit of gray invading and I didn't like it one bit at all. Keeping my hair looking the way I like it makes me feel good.

I guess I am in the minority here and do not hang out with the 40+ crowd on a regular basis, so while I do agree that there are plenty of cosmetic alterations among my peers I do not believe that hair coloring is one of them.

'Pretty sure that most middle and upper class women in the U.S. color their hair at least a few times each year.
Women who say that they don't color their hair often get highlights or "do the roots" and don't consider that to be coloring it.
If you want to be subtle, ask 'em how much they spend on a haircut. If it's more than $50 bucks, they're getting something extra done.

I'm with Doc, the only women I know (say over the age of 30) that DON'T color their hair are elderly.

OK, yes, highlights are pretty common among all ages I suspect. I wouldn't say that was coloring exactly... It can be a natural alteration.

My sister used to add natural highlights with some fresh lemon juice. That's pretty natural.

I was not even thinking about PUBIC areas when I asked. But now that you mention it, I think you are right. And I did not want to go there.
But I see a lot of girls and women color their hair. Not always to hide grey, but usually to add highlights, or change color completely.
My wife does not color hair, nor do nails, and is very sparse on makeup. Does not pluck eyebrows, which I do not recall anyone mentioning as well here. But has tried to lighten teeth. Though she still has baby teeth and those have discolored a bit. I do nothing except shave face and trim eyebrows a bit. No teeth whitening, though I probably would look better if I did.
