We live in duplexes. We have to follow the smoke schedule of the tenants living across from us. When she is outside puffing her life away we close our door, windows and turn on the AC. There is a medium sized backyard behind her unit that is far away from the duplexes but she prefers to smoke in front of her entrance way that is also the common driveway. The tenant in front of her is also a smoker. He, too, smokes in front of his entrance way. But we don't get his smoke; only hers. It reeks! We are just glad that the tenants in front of us aren't smokers because if they did we'd move.
Oh, yeah, I would politely ask a smoker, i.e. friend, co-worker, cousin, or similar, not to do in front of me or in my house or in my yard. So far, no one has disregarded my request.

I'm beginning to think that Doc may not always be very polite around smokers, especially if he verbalizes to them the things he posts here regarding smokers. I wouldn't put it past some people to go to extraordinary lengths to antagonize him. Heck, I'd be tempted, but I'm such a wimp that I'd be very polite to his face and privately entertain myself with plots of sweet revenge.
I'm really a very nice person and don't like to do anything that offends others, but my patience can be sorely tested sometimes by people who rant, rave, and carry on - regardless of the subject.

BTW, Doc, a guy having to clean up cigarette butts is probably way less disgusted by that than having to clean up all the animal & human feces in the park on a daily basis. Really.

I wasn't thinking he'd be grossed out.
I was thinking about how hard it is to chase and sweep up the butts. They get blow all over the place and if you don't catch them the birds are likely to eat them and die or they wash into waterways and poison the fish.
