Just be careful if you start tapping into that distilled water for yourself - it'll suck the minerals right out of you and leave you in a bad way if you consume sufficient quantities. On the other hand, it's great for long term storage!
You, sir, have not see me. Too late.

I have two plastic garbage cans full of earthquake supplies (including camping stoves and fuel) that would keep me and the family a couple of weeks. Also, we have lots of deer, squirrels, wild turkeys, etc in the neighborhood. No gun, but I could pull out my old bow and arrow and try my hand at that (not sure I could bring down a deer with my target arrows, though they're so docile I could probably sneak up and club one).

Get a gun, then. I just bought my son a used .22 for only $99. (new in box, but opened)

What if they have more ammo than you?

Are you honestly stating that you would rob your neighbors? Did I miss the winky emoticon?

Of course not, that's ridiculous. He's saying that he'll kill his neighbors and eat them.

it would mean eating rice and beans sparingly but probably a month in case of disaster. i would probably have to kill myself sooner than that, though, just to get away from my teenage son's complaining about the lack of desirable food.

This.

I have to fight with my kids over every meal as it is. "I don't want this for dinner!", "I don't like that anymore", "Why can't we go out to eat more often?", "I just want desert."

Actually, they would be fine if we had an endless supply of chips and/or bread...until the scurvy set in anyway.

You might be surprised how fast they "adapt" after three weeks of no electricity, no running water, taking a dump in the back yard in a hole, to eating food "they don't like'....

Kinda puts whats important in perspective...

Besides, if they get too bad, you can always sell them to the roving bands of looters as porters for a bag of Doritos and a can of warm Pepsi...
Or spit roast one of them in the front yard, and see of the other children wise up... or take a liking to "long pork barbeque".
