You didn't read the article did you? (typical for you) He was talking about competitiveness not about the Yanks and it was true, baseball needs a nail biter and they haven't had one for a while.

Good grief, if money created wins Minnesota should not have needed to pick up oldster/diva Favre to have anything other than a 50-50 season. Some teams spend better than others.
Um Pam, I'm a Yankee fan too. And while yes, the money isn't everything, let's not kid
ourselves while we sit there and watch multi-millionaires play a game, that it is still BIG
business! What other team has their own TV network? I will admit that as a team they have
jelled this year better than most, and I am there for the Pettitte-Mo-Jeter-Posada history
as well. Those 4 are the least diva-ish players you could ask for...
Oh if you want to talk about pro sport salaries and the income team organizations make, I'm in! It's absolutely crazy! I just don't know what can be done about it. Look at the Angels and how many players, really good players, are free agents for next season. The odds of them staying with LA according to this one writer are pretty low http://losangeles.angels.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20091026&content_id=7555294&vkey=news_ana&fext=.jsp&c_id=ana. What do the teams do? What do the players do? Of course most will follow the money. And you can't blame them.
Spending also looks worse when the owner is independently wealthy and doesn't need profits from the team.
BTW, the viewing numbers are in and post season viewing was way up for the ALCS. It handily beat Sunday night football. Fox expects this years WS to be huge. It wasn't last year so the Yankee factor is very real.
