I used to collect sketches from comic book artists i meet at shows and conventions. Not expensive published original art. Just little random sketches and doodles. Whatever the artist feels like drawing at the moment. Alot of them are 5 second self portrait doodles which they then autograph for me. It made me happy when I was a kid
It's funny how although I collected these sketches 20 years ago I still to this day vividly remember who the nice guys were who chatted with me even though I was only a 12 year old kid and there were 100 people behind me waiting in line...
....And who the rude ones were. A few refused to autograph my sketchbook even after i stood in line for over an hour to meet them. I understand that sometimes it's too busy to draw a full sketch. But refuse to even sign an autograph for a kid who stood patiently in line?!!The first two on that list of rude creators aren't too surprising, especially Byrne.
Moebius, Art Spiegelman, Michael Zeck, Mike Kaluta, Jim Lee and a ton of others were so gracious and friendly to meet.
On the other hand,,, Howard Chaykin, John Byrne and Bernie Wrightson are some guys who come to mind at the moment who were rude to me (20 years ago).

Mostly my wife's "Country" themed art and family photographs from Grandparents on. A couple of 18th century oil portraits of ancestors- a smiling, ruddy broad faced shipping company Master and Owner, and his more sere looking wife.
I wish I could collect engravings from the US mint, in high denominations and large quantities, but I have kids.

Hah! Nice! I've been out of the comic book scene for 15 years. Those sites brought back alot of happy memories from my childhood
From the beginning as a casual reader, to avid reader, to collector, to obsessive collector, to dealer, to quitting cold turkey,,, In all my years I've never paid for a sketch or illustration. It was always through the graciousness of the creator. I'll look into uploading my collection to give back to the comic book community. Thanks Blankity Blank!

Mostly from friends, but I have purchased some at Estate Sales, etc.
I like original line drawings, figural, simple. I also like paintings, sculpture. Modern and Traditional.
Hell, I like it all.
I only have 2 original pieces of some note. A small nude drawing by Louise Nevelson, and an Original Silkscreen (proof) of Robert Indiana's LOVE (sold as a "poster")
