I guess what the liberals are trying to rationalize is that it's okay to kill (Osama), but not to water board KSM to help obtain the intelligence to find him.

We have a problem with waterboarding because it doesn't work.

"Mohammed did not reveal the names while being subjected to the simulated drowning technique known as waterboarding, former officials said. He identified them many months later under standard interrogation..."

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/05/02/osama-bin-laden-dead-one-phone-call_n_856674.html

There have been countless other studies where "enhanced interrogation" (more plainly, torture) not only gives you bad intelligence (they will say anything to make them stop) but it puts our troops at risk for retaliation.

I, for one, am glad that Osama is dead. Funny how the right is somehow upset that he was killed. This is coming from a group that said that Democrats were giving comfort to the enemy.

The unease among the libs here is palpable. They don't know what to say. After years of preaching following the law to show we are better than them, they get this. Everything you have spoken against has come to pass, with great results i might add. No wonder you have been reduced to sausage making. But relax, you are not the only hypocrites,

The American Civil Liberties Union, which has vocally opposed the Obama administration’s use of lethal force outside of armed conflict zones, told POLITICO it has not released an official comment on bin Laden’s death, and has no plans to comment on it.

Nice cherry pick.
"Mohammed did not reveal the names while being subjected to the simulated drowning technique known as waterboarding, former officials said. He identified them many months later under standard interrogation, they said, leaving it once again up for debate as to whether the harsh technique was a valuable tool or an unnecessarily violent tactic."

Even G Beck had a party

is this a typical huffingtonpost reader ?
"the huffington post has to be the biggest source of liberal garbage on the internet. if it was printed on paper i wouldnt wipe my butt with it. "

certainly comical posting swill in a "swill" rag.

Re: Thank you, Mr. President - Acer - 05-03-2011

I rather doubt waterboarding KSM in 2005 provided any help in the present operation.

Nope. People oppose torture because it doesn't work, and is therefore unnecessarily cruel.

Re: Thank you, Mr. President - john dough - 05-03-2011

Waterboarding did not work, even though the Bush administration said it was ok. We got the intelligence without torturing him.

Yes, waterboarding is torture. The Military and CIA classifies it as such, and pre-Bush, it was not used, as it was thought to be cruel.

Beck is the biggest effing coward out there. For him to say ANYTHING about the military is a joke.

People don't oppose torture because it does or doesn't work. It's simply a crime against humanity. Period.

If you believe waterboarding is torture then it is a crime against humanity.
If you believe it is not then it's not.

Some would even leave room for grey area.

Re: Thank you, Mr. President - Greg - 05-03-2011

I agree that waterboarding is torture. I torturing could truly and reliably obtain intel, I might be able to put on ethical blinders. But, it doesn't.

Re: Thank you, Mr. President - $tevie - 05-03-2011

My problem is that some folks are bound and determined to suck all the air out of the room. Who isn't glad that OBL is dead? Then how about letting just ONE event pass without sh!tting all over it, or is that too much to ask?
