Oh, and I suppose when I ask Wendy's for a biggie Coke with no ice, I'm stealing from them, too?

Put ice in it, that $1.59 Coke contains no more than 12 ounces of beverage. But they tout it as a 32 ounce serving; aren't THEY lying? Give it to me with no ice, and we're even: Wendy's advertises a 32 ounce drink for $1.59, and I get a 32 ounce drink for $1.59--not a 12 ounce drink and the rest ice.

The world is full of (a) stupid people, who create (b) loopholes. You may be a busybody, inserting yourself into others' lives when they take advantage of these loopholes--but you're still a nosy busybody who needs to get a life of your own.

Those defending the abuse REALLY need to get a life of their own, Elmo.

Mavic, we're probably talking about two different levels of abuse. What Starbucks wants to avoid is having people get a tiny shot of espresso in a HUGE empty cup, then fill the rest of the 20 ounces with milk or half-and-half.

I'm not talking about an imaginary line of "okay" versus "not okay". If you want a shot of espresso, get it in a shot-sized cup.

You'd only NEED a shot of espresso in a 20-ounce cup if you intend to...um..."milk" the system.

Elmo, you'd probably get a free cup for water and fill it with soda. You are that much of a prick.

Re: i guess it's now ok to steal from starbucks - elmo3 - 10-06-2006

and they're off! starting with herbiesyufy, whining about someone getting "something for nothing" as if it's any of his business WHATsoever.

Re: i guess it's now ok to steal from starbucks - SeattlePhotog - 10-06-2006

I'm not whining at all, Elmo. I'm calling you a prick and a thief.

Big difference. It's none of my business that you are both, but since this is a discussion forum, I'm just discussing your prick-ness.

Absolutely I wouldn't. And that shows how weak you know your position is, that you feel you can defend it only by attacking me personally and attacking my character.

Why don't you instead attack my position? Why did you feel it necessary to attack my character?

And you called me a "prick". Gee, that's the argument of someone with NO valid position whatsoever. When you're down and can't get yourself back up, attack the opponent personally!

You lose.

Re: i guess it's now ok to steal from starbucks - SeattlePhotog - 10-06-2006

There's nothing to defend, Elmo. You think stealing is okay...I don't. That's sort of clear. so the discussion ends there.

You don't have any character, so there's nothing really to attack there either.

With absolutely no evidence of anything whatsoever other than my position on the subject.

You are calling me a thief? You are risking your attendance here, and OWC itself. I am ready to follow up on this accusation in every way I can. If this forum goes away, will you be prepared to accept the responsibility for it?

Big difference. It's none of my business that you are both, but since this is a discussion forum, I'm just discussing your prick-ness.

Am I a "prick" because I hold a position that you don't like?

Is that the only way you can defend your own position?

You lose.

Re: i guess it's now ok to steal from starbucks - SeattlePhotog - 10-06-2006

Look, Elmo, you can hold your prick all day and it won't change the fact that you're a scumbag.

Re: i guess it's now ok to steal from starbucks - elmo3 - 10-06-2006

[quote herbiesyufy]There's nothing to defend, Elmo. You think stealing is okay
No, I don't. But you apparently think YOU can decide where the line is drawn between "condiment" and "stealing". You insist YOU are the judge for ME.

My taking 1/4 ounce more of half-and-half than YOU think I should, in your mind makes me a "thief". Of course, in the real world that makes you a busybody.

You don't have any character, so there's nothing really to attack there either.

Ah, attacking me personally again. Why don't you instead attack my position? Why don't you refute it?

Because you can't. You simply want to be the judge for everyone else. You think YOU should decide for everyone else how much is "condiment" and how much is "stealing".
