[quote Undrpsi]All-right...

Now I am confused.

The Apple TV can (thru itunes) rent a limited selection of movies.
The Apple TV can (thru youtube) show a selection of limited movies.
and...what else? You can call them limited but the libraries will likely be much bigger than that on the 360. And 50 million YouTube videos is "limited"?

I have a 360 as well as an Apple TV. I like the 360 but the when it comes to music, photos, podcasts, and tv, I use the Apple TV. XBox Live is a competitor to iTunes though especially when it comes to movies. I'm not sure why Microsoft was given permission to SELL HD movies and Apple wasn't.

Edit- now that I think about it, 50 million is probably ON youTube while not all have probably yet been converted to h.264, so in that respect, it is limited, but it's a huge number.

Kra,

Funny. I wouldn't be so fast to push YouTube videos as this incredible feature. Remember, 50 million YouTube videos is meaningless when the vast majority aren't worth watching.

Re: YouTube

Yeah, yeah, lots of crap! Good and bad just like the rest of the web. Plenty of diamonds waiting to be discovered too. Whether it is worth watching is up to the viewer.

I guess that's what the ratings are for... You can sort by highest rated (today/week/all-time. Still, if you wouldn't watch it, it's not a benefit to you. The folks that visit my house and see it always seem to like the feature like I do. So I will push it! Smile

Kra,

True. In that sense, Apple's rental idea is good. My time is valuable and it saves me the trouble of wasting it sorting through crap to find something worth watching. Then again, this is why I have a DVR.

It's too bad Apple didn't include DVR features in the AppleTv. It'd work quite well in conjunction with rentals and possibly make the machine worth the investment. Maybe in AppleTV Take 3 or as a separate add-on software package.
