You're projecting kj. Quoting from a post is the appropriate way to highlight the point someone is responding to, it's hardly a correction. If you really think he didn't understand your point then you might remake or rephrase it.

While bitching that he doesn't understand you, you completely failed to understand or respond to the body of his post. Davester doesn't need anyone to run interference for him, you might.

[quote guitarist]Results show Fox News is slightly right of center. Big surprise. NBC, ABC, CNN, etc., are slightly left of center.
Who defines this mythical "center"?

Everybody thinks they are a centrist, "Me, I'm not a liberal/conservative, I'm in the middle!"

Methinks guitarist is a dormant nick resurrected by a recently departed DM superposter, one busy building a new online identity.

So you need outside confirmation to know what you believe?

Interesting there karsen, although like many of these things, I didn't like the way a lot of the questions were worded.

I guess I'm not a mythical moderate. The word "moderate" is a political weasel word anyway.

Reminds me of a joke. Definition of a Libertarian: a guy who's afraid to tell his friend's he's a Republican.

RgrF 'methinks" is still concerned more with identity and personality than opinions or ideas. To set the record straight (and I don't appreciate the false implications) this is the only name I've used. No changes, no appearances or reappearances under different names. One person, one name. You're confusing me with someone else. Clear enough for you?

Good point. Where is the center? I don't know. It's sort of like the sun-revolves-around-the-earth thinking. Most people think their views are the center, and everything on either side follows from there, with their own perspective as the "norm". That's not unusual. Human nature.

Isn't a centrist someone who is non-ideological? Can comfortably integrate aspects of either side of the political spectrum without exlusive loyalty to political affiliation? In the legislature, Leiberman and McCain are examples of moderates who can get support on both sides. Or someone who disregards ideological purity tests, interested in solutions that work, regardless of which side they came from. Most are inclined one way or the other. But I figure most average Americans are near the center.

No way roger. If Fly was here, you'd know it. He deserves a lot of credit, but if you think fly could come in here all stealth-like, you're giving him too much credit. kj.

I don't know what's up with this centrist thing. My views are fairly extreme, whether right or left. Is that "moderate". I think the middle ground on any particular issue is as likely, if not more likely, to be wrong. kj.

Re: Hell Freezes Over...[ Hillary Clinton on O'Rielly ] - freeradical - 05-05-2008

This whole business about classifying people into ideological squares is ridiculous, especially with respect to this "moderate category".

If you ask a focused question on any issue, people will either agree or disagree.

Example: Should gun owners be allowed to own magazines with a capacity greater than 10 rounds?

You either agree (48 states) or not (California and Massachusetts) . What does a "moderate" believe? Is there some "third" way?
