Re: Who is the worst President ever? - Greg the dogsitter - 12-19-2008 So what if it is about Bush? Wiretapping, Guantanamo, Iraq, etc. This has scared lots of people, and has not endeared us in the eyes of the world. The question "Has President Bush been one of the worst Presidents?" is not necessary loaded. I mean, this can be taken as a straight question. Can't it? Re: Who is the worst President ever? - $tevie - 12-19-2008 It can't if you aren't some bitter and twisted neocon right winger looking for insults all day long. Re: Who is the worst President ever? - Dennis S - 12-19-2008 I am serious about this: Have you people always been this stupid or did you get knocked on the head or drink Drano or something? Re: Who is the worst President ever? - Gutenberg - 12-19-2008 Torture! The United States of America never endorsed torture of prisoners till Bush & Co. took office, and the administration endorsed torture over the objections of the heads of all four of the armed services. No democracy has ever simply decided to ignore the Geneva Conventions--and the United States is the caretaker of the signed documents! So when you add to that the warrantless wiretapping of citizens, national security letters, domestic spying, the immoral and completely unnecessary war in Iraq, the decline of our international reputation and the collapse of the economy, should that raise the idea in some peoples' minds that Bush is not a very good president? Edit: Ack. Syntax. Sorry. Re: Who is the worst President ever? - swampy - 12-19-2008 Stevie and Dennis, What makes you think you are always right? Why do you persist in name calling and personal attacks? Is your life so bleak and unfulfilled that your only happiness is found in putting others down? It never changes. If anyone even tosses out an idea that you don't agree with, your normal come back is not discussion, but disrespectful vengeful non sequiturs. There are people who have respect for George Bush. They don't necessarily agree with all he's done, but they don't view him as the devil incarnate and they don't drink Drano, and they are not stupid. You're being childish and petty and your superior attitudes will come back to bite you some day. I just get frustrated when it is OBVIOUS that Bush is a terrible president and that conservatives have ruined the economy and Constitution and that conservatives posting on the internet are a-holes and dumb-a-s and that Sarah Palin is not qualified to be VP and on and on. It is obvious. A bit of perspective helps. ![]() Re: Who is the worst President ever? - Mac-A-Matic - 12-19-2008 michaelb wrote: Excuse me, but did you just state here that the democrats basically laid over for Bush because he was "stronger" than them? Are we stating that democrats are basically spineless politicians when it comes to a political juggernaut such as Dick Cheney and George W. Bush? Gutenberg wrote: Whatever the case about Cheney/Bush may be, the fact still remains that the democrats were instrumental in everything you've stated above. When push came to shove, the democrats gave their stamp of approval time and time again. Consider the USA PATRIOT Act that paved the way for everything you stated above - democrats were part and parcel of that which has destroyed our nation. re: my post here: http://forums.macresource.com/read.php?2,627552 You know, truth be told, I really have no issue with anyone taking a liberal or conservative stance on our nation. However, let's not pretend that one party is somehow "better" than the other, or that our situation today isn't because of the wrongs and misdeeds of both parties. Re: Who is the worst President ever? - Gutenberg - 12-19-2008 Sorry, Mac, not. The endorsement of torture, the "extraordinary renditions," the warrantless wiretapping, the national security letters and domestic spying were all put into effect by executive order before the USA Patriot Act ever went before Congress. The immoral and completely unnecessary war in Iraq was endorsed by Democrats who fell for lies from the administration. Warrantless wiretaps and national security letters were recently overturned in the courts, thank God. Re: Who is the worst President ever? - swampy - 12-19-2008 DENNIS... "I don't have a superior attitude. I just get frustrated when it is OBVIOUS that Bush is a terrible president and that conservatives have ruined the economy and Constitution and that conservatives posting on the internet are a-holes and dumb-a-s and that Sarah Palin is not qualified to be VP and on and on. It is obvious." Lets look at the dictionary...Obvious "easily perceived or understood; clear, self-evident, or apparent" I'd say it's only obvious to a simple mind that won't delve deeper into all the ramifications and nuances. You only want to explore the surface and stop at what is obvious to you. Some of choose see the bigger picture. I think Bush will be vindicated by history unless the progressives start re-writing history to suit their agenda. |
