Very few buy one on a rational basis. For example I counted almost 80 pickups while driving to the grocery store the other day (and that's just during the drive there, not back). During that 5 mile / 10 minute drive, not one was towing anything or had something in the bed. They were all late model vehicles. I often do the same. I almost never see a pickup with anything in the back, and when I do it is almost always a junker with a trailer doing lawn work or another junker work vehicle. I do see some super decked out huge tire jacked up work trucks, but I doubt those last long (gas mileage, expense of tires, etc.). Not practical. Life's too short to drive a truck around, unless you truly have to. Re: ‘ Even In Matte Black, The Tesla Cybertruck Still Looks Like Crap ‘ - macphanatic - 11-10-2023 Most people have one vehicle. You buy what works for you. If you do regular home improvement or go camping, a sedan or small SUV isn't going to cut it. Especially if you want to transport properly, unlike many of the idiots at Best Buy and Ikea. Re: ‘ Even In Matte Black, The Tesla Cybertruck Still Looks Like Crap ‘ - Carnos Jax - 11-10-2023 Thing is, most people buying trucks don’t do any of that on a regular basis. And as far as camping goes, none of my friends that are heavy campers own a pick up. Even I’ve went camping a handful of times over the years, and I never thought of needing a truck. Re: ‘ Even In Matte Black, The Tesla Cybertruck Still Looks Like Crap ‘ - Rick-o - 11-10-2023 I like my truck. I have a few classic rides, but these days they're stored in the barn and I rarely drive them. I drive a '17 Chevy Silverado that I bought new in '18. It has 4 wheel drive and is a regular cab, which I prefer, as it has a 34 gallon gas tank and a full size bed. That said, I'm in snow country and I absolutely love 4x4! And a 34 gallon gas tank? Retired Rick-o likes the idea of not having to stand at the pump in sub zero blizzard type weather. I can go literally months between fill ups. When it's time to haul something, (talking about you, sheet stock) I never worry about transporting it. Also, I've been know to transport a load of firewood now and then. As a full sized guy, I also like having some extra cab room. I'm old, and I'm not changing my ways. A pickup suits my needs best. I just wish I could turn the clock back and go back to a time when you only saw a random truck or two in a parking lot. Maybe the gol-darn prices wouldn't be so high if the manufacturers didn't try to turn a truck into the family hauler.
