I was told by forum members that it would be somewhat “future proof.” LOL Re: It has begun!! If so, then I'd disconnect the old spinner, just to be on the safe side. Re: It has begun!! Operation Mini Resurrection - I have it open! - Robert M - 02-25-2024 gadje, I created the thumb drive for Jerry and gave him the Crucial M500 960GB 2.5" SSD. The flash drive is a Sandisk Extreme USB 3.0 flash drive. 64GB. It's formatted as APSF with two partitions. Both partitions are 32GB. One partition has a full complete installation of Mac OS 10.14 Mojave. Not crippled in any way. Full installation with a user and all the bells and whistles. If you boot off the flash drive, you choose a user, enter a PW and reach the desktop. You can open the Utilities folder and run Disk Utility. The second partition has a copy of the OS 10.14 Mojave installer. A full installer. The Crucial M500 960GB drive I gave to Jerry is a 2.5" ssd. It is formatted as an APSF-GUID Partition. It was installed in a 2.5" USB 3 enclosure. It was 100% ready for Jerry to use. The installer on the partition is the one I anticipated Jerry using to install the OS on the Crucial M500 he installed in the mini. The goal was to do that and then migrate everything from the Time Machine backup to it. Robert Re: It has begun!! You can't migrate from Time Machine to a lesser version of the OS than was used to make the backup. Re: It has begun!! I’ve been trying to find it all day. It was on my computer desk but it’s vanished. UGH!!!! Re: It has begun!! So after it installs El Capitan I upgrade to HIgh Sierra (which is what my TM backups were using). Re: It has begun!! I’ve gotten up to the part of the installation that tells me I need to AGREE to the terms - but the AGREE button is grayed out. I tried scrolling though the whole agreement text to see if that was necessary but it's still grayed out....?? ![]() Re: It has begun!! I went to the Apple in the upper left corner and did software update but it's only updating some device thingies and a newer version of El Capitain. |
