Re: Best fast-food burger & fries? - OWC Jamie - 08-31-2011 we used to have Jack in the Boxes here in Ma. They were one of the only places open after midnight and would do a booming business when all the bars closed at 1 and 2 in the morning. They had lots of problems with salmonella and the local health departments. and all or most of the stores closed after. (related or not) I don't recall having anything there but the three tacos for a buck. At 1 or 2 in the morning. :-) Re: Best fast-food burger & fries? - vision63 - 08-31-2011 billb wrote: Now that's what I'm talkin' about. A double-thrill meal. Will I survive the deliciousness? I'm surprised that Jack in the Box is still open under that name after what happened in Washington state back in '93. There's a commercial every half-hour. They never went away, but the chain was relaunched thematically in the 90's. Re: Best fast-food burger & fries? - Grace62 - 08-31-2011 It's still big in Washington too. I think the commercials are pretty cute. Re: Best fast-food burger & fries? - M A V I C - 08-31-2011 It all depends. Dick's is great, their fries are great. In-n-Out is usually very good, though it sounds like the OP's experience was abnormal. I had five guys a couple weeks ago for the first time. Meh. Fatburger = Meh/blah. Blake's Lotaburger... okay I admit I haven't had this in a while but I remember it being VERY good, especially because you can get a green chili burger which is awesome. Burgers are always better with green chilis. I like Blake's. I like Dick's, but they're different. Dick's is more simple, less expensive, cash-only and has quite a heritage. But if you put the burgers side-by-side, didn't tell me the cost, didn't tell me where they came from, I'd probably like Blake's more. And in-n-out too though they're a bit more greasy. There's also The Counter. They're highly rated but my issue is that when it's up to me to order all the ingredients, I order a burger just like I make at home and it tastes about the same. Which leaves me with my final answer to this question: My house. (Though it doesn't really qualify as fast-food) Re: Best fast-food burger & fries? - Grace62 - 08-31-2011 M A V I C wrote: I've wanted to try that place, the "burgers in a bowl" look good, but don't get to Ballard all that often. Last time we were down there the line at the Counter was crazy long so we didn't stick around. Worth it to try again?
