This attempt at a strawman is as pitiful as your hypocrisy over Medicare. Please provide a citation showing that I have insisted on excluding you from "society's elderly."

Swampy wants to have her cake and eat it too. If her political mentors had their way she'd have been on her own.

Having given our pensioners their medical care in kind, why not food baskets, why not public housing accommodations, why not vacation resorts, why not a ration of cigarettes for those who smoke and of beer for those who drink. - Barry Goldwater 1964

If you don’t [stop Medicare] and I don’t do it, one of these days you and I are going to spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it once was like in America when men were free. - Ronald Reagan 1961

I was there, fighting the fight, voting against Medicare ... because we knew it wouldn’t work in 1965 - Bob Dole

George H. W. Bush, while a candidate for the US Senate in 1964, described Medicare as “socialized medicine.”

Why would I be jealous of "your" Medicare? When my aorta burst and the local hospital saved my life,Medicare paid the bill. When, a year later, the repair became infected Medicare paid world class physicians at USC to replace my aorta, move my bladder and repair the damaged ureter.

Unlike you, I acknowledge that Medicare is a socialized medical delivery system, one that I'm grateful to have in place. We as a nation owe that same sort of coverage to all our citizens.

If we can find a way to provide socialized medicine to members of Congress and high ranking government officials, we can find a way to provide it for all of our people, even the ones you don't care for.

If we were to cut military spending in half we'd still be spending more than the rest of the world combined and have enough to fund those tax cuts for the well-to-do you so dearly love as well as pay for Medicare for all.

Think about it!

August, what hypocrisy? Medicare was there for me when I needed it. It's something I paid into all my working life and something I'm still paying for. Don't you get it? I paid for it like any other health insurance. I made a claim for benefits just as I would for private insurance. Medicare denied several items on my claim and those were paid out of my pocket.

Where's the hypocrisy in that?

Didn't I say I was glad Medicare was there for me????????

When are you going to learn to read and comprehend?

"Why not? For all the grief I took here almost three years ago for even raising the subject, I now feel somewhat vindicated." - swampy

VINDICATED? You were proved wrong. Your grief was deserved. How about apologizing?

Exactly. As long as I get their slice of the pie, all is well. To hell with the others.

Notice how all Repub explanations of the Ryan Medicare plan prominently say "People who are 55 and older will not be affected by this plan."

Which I read as "Attention old people: it is safe to vote for us like you always do because we're going to screw somebody else."

To which I say, "If it's a good idea, implement it now." If you don't have the stones to do so, then that's a pretty good indicator that the plan sucks.

Seniors favor Ryan's plan.
