? about Facebook and a "business" account? - jdc - 07-11-2010

Ok, so I have a facebook page, or whatever its called. Its deactivated right now, but of course can be started back up anytime.

So months later I decided that I would like a "business" FB page for my studio. Created it, but used a different email (one associated with my studio)

But according to FB, thats a no-no?

"If I already have a user profile, can I create a business account?
Maintaining multiple accounts, regardless of the purpose, is a violation of Facebook’s Terms of Use. If you already have a personal account, then we cannot allow you to create business accounts for any reason."

So how does that work? Can anyone tell me how they do it?

Heres the whole Help section on it: http://www.facebook.com/pages/edit/?id=111226152464#!/help/?page=721

My "personal" FB account is set up with my name and a GMail addy. My "work" FB account is set up with my name, plus my middle initial and my work email addy.

No problems at all.

I'd ignore it and set up your business account.

As noted above. Use a different email address and physical address, and register with your business name, not your personal name.

I want to do a business page too. I have a personal. I can't figure out how to get to New without it opening my personal page.

There are folks here at work who have two FB accounts: one associated with their work email and address and one associated with their home email and address. They use a different name for each, i.e. "John Doe" and "John Doe Work".

The problem being if one works out of one's home, the email is easy enough but what to do for the second physical address?

You may have to change your personal FB snail mail address, using for example a parent's or sibling's address, if you can find someone who won't mind their address being used (obviously you can reassure them that you will hide it).

Try a different browser and start from scratch.

Tried new browser, co. name, and new email. When they send the confirm email and I click I just get my personal again. Dear me. Maybe try a new isp?
