On a Saturday morning you'll probably be fine on the TZ or the GW but I'd go with the TZ.

In my experience the GW gets busy on Saturday afternoons/evenings. TZ gets busy on Sunday afternoons/evenings.

Why not stay on the west side of the Hudson all the way to Montreal and then go east in Canada ?
I'm assuming you're headed for 91.

I'm guessing because the Pythagorean Theorem applies in Canada same way as in the US.?

Except that Pythagoras was talking about triangles, and the configuration here is more of a quirky parallelogram. More relevant might be the shopping traffic density on 84 in CT vs the scenic quality of 10 east of Montreal.

I think we can dispense with the fractal math on this one and say that on Saturday morning he's going to be just fine on 91 (not 84).
