Strange happening while burning a DVD - olnacl - 07-16-2010

It was an ink-jet printable blank, and after burning and verifying, the white coating on the top of the disk was blistered and I was able to flake every bit of it off with a fingernail. Woe be unto me if it had flaked off within the drive. Earlier I'd burned several from the same stack without seeing the problem, but upon close inspection now, I can see bubbles on the surface. I just did a check on the media manufacturer using Toast and it's Verbatim. I hate to see that - I always though Verbatim was good quality. I'll pitch the whole bunch. I usually use TY, but I must have bought these back when I was printing with an ink jet.

I am considering an overheating issue, and to check that, I burned the disks on three different computers - the third is burning as I write this - but so far all have exhibited the problem with the Verbatim disks. Also, just completed a burn on the same computer, on an ink-jet printable ProDisk with no blistering of the white coating.

I'll have check mine. I don't remember the brand. I get them at Sams. I burn 4 or more a week.
